La Balsa Park
A local’s favourite and a relatively hidden secret on the coast, La Balsa Park hugs the Mooloolah River inlet between Mooloolaba and Point Cartwright. Tuck into a BBQ feast as you watch the yachts and trawlers come and go, while the kids lose themselves on the playground.
Just near the ex-HMAS Brisbane memorial at ‘Alex’ sits a prime outdoor BBQ spot with sweeping views from Point Cartwright as far north as Noosa. It’s made even more beautiful right on sunset as you watch the surfers below while you tuck into a BBQ dinner.
Set on one of the most picturesque corners of coastline in Caloundra, Happy Valley is a picnic and BBQ lovers dream – surf on one side, calm passage on the other, fish and chips and ice-cream available across the road, coffee van in the park, and a gorgeous walk in both directions along the Caloundra Coastal Walk if you’re feeling active.
This large linear park is ideal for wedding ceremonies and events. Outdoor fitness equipment is located within the park. A great spot for a BBQ, and fishing or swimming along the river. Lots of big shade trees for somewhere cool to sit other than the undercover picnic tables. This park is right next to the Pirate Park and the Lions Park and adjoins Quota Park.
Boreen Point Foreshore Park is located on the foreshore of Lake Cootharaba. This park has a playground with a 4 deck combo, blue tongue lizard combo, cargo net, climbing wall, fireman’s pole, hang n glide, a swing and a tunnel. This location is popular for weddings, ceremonies and events.
Located on the shores of Lake Macdonald near the hinterland town of Cooroy, Noosa Botanic Gardens neighbours a local park with serviced BBQ’s . Enjoy the water views over Lake Macdonald as you cook and eat. The gardens next door (100 meters away) are a great location for a family picnic or leisurely stroll and are popular for weddings and events. There are seven separate areas within the gardens including the Amphitheatre, Bridal Walk, Open Lawn, Bicentennial Gardens, Bushland Chapel, Phoenix Palm Lawn and the Lakeside Lawn Paved Circle.
